Wednesday, October 7, 2009 - On Sunday October 4, Companies 3, 7 & 11 were dispatched to a structure fire in an apartment at Pebble Creek Apartments. W-3 & L-3 were the first units on scene, with W-7 close behind. Upon making entry to the apartment, interior crews faced dense black smoke and with little visibility. The fire was found (burning grease on the kitchen floor) and extinguished with an ABC dry chem extinguisher, with a 1-3/4 hose line as back-up (not needed). Overhaul and ventilation were then preformed. Damage to the complex was confined to the original apartment and surrounding tenants were allowed to return shortly after the building was ventilated. Thanks to all assisting departments particularly Wagon-7 (and 71), as well as EMS-2, Battalion-1, and Medic 33( for their helpful size-up and staging).
