Company
3 responded to a residential structure fire around 1:20am this morning on the
4000 block of Runnymeade Lane. While en route crews were advised by dispatch that
a man was still inside the residence and possibly unconscious. Upon arriving Wagon 3 and Engine 3 discovered
heavy smoke coming from the front of the ranch style home. Crews immediately
went into rescue mode, searching the residence for victims. Interior search teams were able to locate the unconscious
man and removed him quickly from the home. Rescue crews rushed the man to the
hospital. Volunteer crews from Cave Spring, Back Creek, and Vinton took about
20 minutes to get the fire under control. Units were on scene for 3 hours, with
no other hazards apparent units cleared and returned to service.
