 <![CDATA[Our new Wagon has completed final inspection at the Pierce Manufacturing
Plant in Appleton, WI. Roanoke County expects delivery of Wagon 3, along with 2
matching trucks for other stations next week.&nbsp;The new Wagon is a 2012
Pierce Quantum with a 1,500GMP pump and a 750 gallon tank.&nbsp; The new
truck&nbsp;replaces our 2006 KME Predator. New Wagon 3 is expected to be in

It Paysâ was sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings Tanglewood and donated 15% of all pre-taxed food sales to the fire department. The Cave Spring Volunteer Fire Department, would like to say "THANK YOU" to everyone that joined us during our event and being our partner in providing for our volunteers and helping to make this a better community.  	<title>Second Alarm Fire in the First Due</title>

 <![CDATA[At approximately 1800 hours, Company 3 along with other south county units were alerted for the balcony on fire at Cedar Point Apartments in Company 3's first due.&nbsp; Wagon 3, Ladder 3, and Engine 3 responded on the run staffed with both career and eleven volunteer personnel. Wagon 3 was first arriving to find a three story apartment building with fire showing on the second and third floor with extension into the roof. The Wagon crew stretched two attack lines, one going to the third floor for an interior attack, the second being pulled to protect the exposure on the Alpha-Delta corner.&nbsp; Ladder 3 arrived just behind the Wagon and split into two teams.&nbsp; The exterior team threw ground ladders on all sides of the building and raised the aerial for roof operations.&nbsp; The interior team made entry with the Wagon crew and began performing searches.&nbsp; Due to the heavy fire load and partial roof collapse, command requested the evacuation tone be sounded and for crews to conduct an exterior attack. The fire was marked under control after approximately two hours. All searches were found to be negative for victims, however two cats are still missing from apartments on the top floor.  	<title>Company 3 with Fire Showing from a Vacant House</title>

 <![CDATA[Around 0300 hours south county units were alerted for the house on fire in the 4900 block of Starkey Road in Company 7's (Clearbrook) first due.&nbsp; While en route, units were advised by Roanoke County Control that they were receiving multiple reports of a fully involved house that was believed to be vacant.&nbsp; EMS 2 (Career EMS Supervisor) was first arriving to find a one story residential home with heavy fire showing from the Alpha side.&nbsp; Wagon 3, being the first arriving engine, secured their own water supply and stretched 150' of 2 1/2 hose and began a defensive attack on the home due to the heavy fire load.&nbsp; Wagon 7 (Clearbrook Career) arrived next and stretched a 1 3/4 inch attack line to side Charlie and made entry after an initial knockdown.&nbsp; All searches proved to be all clear and the fire was marked under control within thirty minutes.&nbsp; Personnel from 3 and 7 continued with overhaul and assisting fire marshals.  	<title>Vehicle Accident with Entrapment on Brambleton Ave</title>

 <![CDATA[Around 1730 hours Battalion 1 (Career Fire Supervisor) came up on a vehicle accident in the area of Brambleton Avenue and Chatsworth Drive. Upon investigation there was found to be multiple patients and one subject trapped. Wagon 3 responded on the run with both career and volunteer personnel. When the Wagon arrived on scene two teams went to work; one took extrication equipment to free the trapped driver and the other crew went to care for the patient in the second vehicle.&nbsp; With a simple door pop the trapped occupant was removed from the vehicle in under five minutes and all patients were turned over to the care of awaiting ambulances. After assisting police with traffic Wagon 3 returned to service within an hour....]]>

Cave Spring Volunteer Fire Department had 3 recruits
graduated from the 10th Roanoke County Volunteer Fire Academy.&nbsp;A total of 17 volunteer firefighters
graduated from this yearâs academy Wednesday evening in Vinton. The Roanoke
County Volunteer Fire Academy starts each year in September and ends in
February consisting of weeknight and weekend classes with over 20 weeks and 200
hours of practical and classroom training. Recruits receive certificates in
Firefighter 1 and 2 along with Hazmat operations.&nbsp;If you are interested in becoming a volunteer
firefighter please contact us at membership@cavespringfire.org
or your local volunteer fire department. Advance application and acceptance for
membership is required prior to being allowed to enroll in the fire academy.
Congratulations to Chris Refino, Ben Barton, John Mobley and all of this yearâs

 <![CDATA[As the first winter storm of the 2011-2012 season moved into the Roanoke Valley, Cave Spring Volunteer Fire Department members kept five trucks staffed and on the road for most of the day.&nbsp; Units responded to numerous accidents, reported house fires, and wire down calls. Over twenty volunteers staffed the station during the storm and handled all calls in the Cave Spring first due with no assistance requested from neighboring companies.  	<title>Attic Fire - Elm View Road</title>

 <![CDATA[Company 3
responded to a residential structure fire around 01:00 in the 4300 block Elm
View Road. While en route crews were advised by dispatch that the caller said
the house was on fire. Wagon 3 marked on scene of a 1-story residential
structure with smoke showing from the eves. Wagon 3 sent in a fire attack team.
The fire attack team found the fire in the attic of the bedroom and got a quick
knockdown. The fire was marked under control within minutes of the arrival of
Wagon 3. Ventilation and overhaul were quickly performed. The structure
sustained only moderate damage. Command was terminated and all units cleared
within an hour. Units operating: W3, L3, E3, W7, M33, M7 Batt1, EMS2, Air9,

 <![CDATA[As Cave Spring Volunteers were finishing up clean-up after dinner, the call went out for a dryer on fire on Ripplebrook Road in the first due area.&nbsp; Engine 3 and Tanker 3 responded on the run with a total of 8 volunteers.&nbsp; Engine 3 was first arriving to find a 1-story residential structure with moderate smoke showing from the Alpha side.&nbsp; Engine 3's crew stretched a 1 3/4 inch attack line to the front door while the Tanker arrived and secured the Engine's water supply.&nbsp; The Engine crew made entry and located a dryer and articles of clothing on fire and extinguished the same.&nbsp; Engine 11 (Back Creek career) followed behind the Engine crew and began to open up and ventilate the structure.&nbsp; With no extension found crews returned to service within an hour....]]>
